HOW THIS SITE IS WRITTEN
Editorial standards
Average Idiot is one person, William (Bill) Belcamino. This page says who answers for what is published here, how the pages are made, where the facts come from, and what happens when something is wrong.
- One person is responsible
Everything on this site is published under my name and I answer for it. There is no agency, ghostwriter or account manager in between. If something here is wrong, tell me.
- How the pages are made
I run this site, and the other sites I operate, with AI tools working under written rules I set. They draft pages, check facts against sources and publish changes, and the rules say which changes wait for my approval. How that system works is written up on belcamino.com/system/. Using AI does not change who is accountable: I am.
- Where the facts come from
Prices and what each plan includes are my own and kept current, so they can be quoted as written. The research figures on the data page come straight from the free checker’s own records, with the method stated. Claims about how Google, ChatGPT, Claude or other tools behave link to the company’s own documentation or the published specification.
- Saying what is not known
Where nobody has published evidence, the page says so instead of guessing. The llms.txt explainer is an example: it says plainly that no major AI system has confirmed it reads the file.
- No promises I cannot keep
I do not promise a ranking, a spot in the Google map pack or a mention by an AI assistant, because none of those is in anyone’s control. Pages say what the work does, not what it guarantees.
- Dates on every page
Each page shows when it was last updated, at the bottom, so you can judge how current it is.
- Mistakes are fixed in the open
When a fact is wrong it is corrected on the page and listed on the corrections page with the date.
